The story of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts began in 1986 when its founder, Late Capt. C. P. Krishnan Nair, opened The Leela Mumbai with a vision to bring the finest expressions of Indian luxury hospitality to the world. Nearly four decades later, The Leela continues this journey of delighting guests by providing unparalleled luxury in captivating environs ensconced in the lap of nature, wrapped in the graciousness of Indian hospitality.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the brand today is owned by a Brookfield Asset Management–sponsored private real estate fund and operates thirteen award-winning properties with 3,544 keys across eleven cities in India. These include its flagship hotel in New Delhi, along with Bengaluru, Chennai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Gurugram, East Delhi, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Kovalam, Ashtamudi and Hyderabad. With ten hotels in the pipeline, The Leela is on track to expand to twenty-three properties with over 5,000 keys over the next three years, entering high-growth destinations such as Agra, Ayodhya, Bandhavgarh, Mumbai, Ranthambore, Sikkim, Srinagar, Dubai and most recently, Jaisalmer.
